Riverside, CA — As communities across the Inland Empire prepare for the November General Election, Inland Empire United is proud to endorse Leila Namvar for California State Assembly District 47.
Members of the California State Assembly make decisions that directly affect the everyday lives of Inland Empire residents, from housing affordability and public education to worker protections, healthcare, environmental policy, and economic opportunity. Leila Namvar brings a unique combination of public service, planning expertise, labor leadership, and lived experience to the race. She currently serves as Public Arts Program Manager for the City of Indio and has worked as an urban planner on projects that incorporated environmental justice into local planning decisions. She has also served as Chapter President for SEIU 721 and as a Delegate for Assembly District 47, advocating for workers and expanding civic participation.
An immigrant who waited nearly two decades to come to the United States legally, Namvar says her own experience working multiple jobs, raising a family, and navigating economic hardship shaped her commitment to working families. She believes California should invest in affordable housing, quality public education, accessible healthcare, and strong labor protections while ensuring government remains transparent and accountable to the people it serves.
Namvar has also emphasized issues that are especially important across the Inland Empire, including improving air quality, enforcing community benefits agreements, protecting immigrant communities, expanding environmental justice, and ensuring major development projects benefit local residents rather than special interests.
