Inland Empire United Endorses Abigail Medina for San Bernardino City Unified School District Board

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Inland Empire United is proud to endorse Abigail Medina for the San Bernardino City Unified School District Board, recognizing her proven leadership, commitment to educational equity, and record of expanding opportunities for students and families.

Strong public schools require leaders who understand both the challenges students face and the opportunities they deserve. Inland Empire United supports leaders who work to ensure every student has access to a high-quality education, supportive learning environments, and clear pathways to college and career success.

Abigail Medina’s journey into public service began as a parent advocate. After navigating challenges in her own educational experience and becoming involved in parent organizing through COPE, she dedicated herself to ensuring other families had the support and opportunities she wished had existed for her.

Since joining the San Bernardino City Unified School District Board in 2013, Medina has helped lead significant improvements across one of California’s largest school districts. During her tenure, graduation rates have increased to 92.5 percent, A-G completion rates have grown from roughly 7-11 percent to 45 percent, and the district has expanded dual enrollment, career pathways, bilingual achievement, and college readiness opportunities for students.

Medina has also championed policies that support immigrant families, strengthen student safety, expand mental health resources, affirm LGBTQIA+ students, and ensure families remain active partners in shaping district decisions. Throughout her service, she has emphasized that every student deserves dignity, opportunity, and the support necessary to succeed regardless of their background.

Inland Empire United is proud to endorse Abigail Medina because of her demonstrated leadership, measurable accomplishments, and unwavering commitment to expanding opportunity for every student in San Bernardino City Unified.
