RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Inland Empire United is proud to endorse Sammie Luna for Moreno Valley Unified School District Trustee Area 1, recognizing her commitment to educational opportunity, student success, and public service.
School board trustees help shape the future of their communities by making decisions that affect students, educators, and families every day. Inland Empire United believes those decisions should be guided by leaders who understand their communities and remain committed to ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed.
A longtime public servant and current Vice President of the Moreno Valley Unified School District Board of Education, Luna is seeking another term after helping lead the district through years of progress. Having raised two children who attended Moreno Valley Unified schools, she brings both professional experience and the perspective of a parent to her leadership.
Luna’s priorities focus on preparing every student for success after graduation. She has emphasized expanding career technical education, apprenticeships, internships, and partnerships with local businesses, unions, and colleges so students graduate with meaningful opportunities, whether they pursue higher education, the skilled trades, or the workforce. She also believes supporting teachers and school staff is essential to improving student outcomes and has committed to transparent budgeting that prioritizes classrooms, mental health resources, and after-school programs.
Throughout her time on the board, Luna has championed efforts to make schools more welcoming and inclusive for every student. She has supported initiatives recognizing Indigenous communities, expanding culturally relevant opportunities for students, and ensuring historically underrepresented students feel seen, valued, and supported throughout the district.
Luna has also committed to remaining accessible and accountable to families by holding regular community office hours, maintaining open communication with educators and residents, and providing transparency around board decisions and district priorities.
