Riverside, CA — Inland Empire United today announced its endorsement of Oscar Ortiz for California State Assembly District 36 in the June 2, 2026 primary election.
Oscar Ortiz has built his leadership on a foundation of community organizing, environmental advocacy, and public service rooted in the district he was raised in. Inland Empire United believes his combination of technical expertise and local leadership reflects the kind of forward-looking representation needed in Sacramento.
“Councilman Ortiz represents the exact kind of leadership we need in Sacramento,” said Sky Allen, Executive Director of Inland Empire United. “As someone who was raised in the district and then raised up to city leadership, he has deep roots in the community, and can now bring that organizing experience, local leadership, and technical background to address some of our region’s toughest problems.”
Ortiz has emphasized environmental justice, responsible economic development, and ensuring that growth in the region benefits local families and workers. His background in science and policy brings a practical, data-driven approach to addressing housing, workforce development, and long-term sustainability challenges facing the Inland Empire.
