Inland Empire United Endorses Felipe Ortiz for Indio City Council District 4

Riverside, CA — Inland Empire United is proud to endorse Felipe Ortiz for Indio City Council District 4 in the 2026 General Election.

Ortiz brings a background in military service, public policy, and local government to his campaign. Born and raised in Colombia, he moved to the United States at 17 and later served in the U.S. Marine Corps. After settling in the Coachella Valley, he continued his education in political science and has served locally through Indio’s Planning Commission and the Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District.

His campaign emphasizes responsible growth, housing, environmental quality, and a city government that remains accessible to residents. Ortiz has stressed the importance of balancing economic development with the effects new projects can have on surrounding neighborhoods, including air quality and other community impacts.

Ortiz has also emphasized ensuring immigrant residents feel safe accessing their city and community resources regardless of immigration status. He supports maintaining strong relationships with organizations that serve immigrant communities and exploring additional city support for those services.

On public health and safety, Ortiz has expressed support for strengthening behavioral health resources and investing in approaches that can better connect residents experiencing mental health challenges with appropriate services. Across these issues, he has identified greater communication and collaboration among councilmembers and with the community as an important part of his approach to governing.
