Riverside, CA — Inland Empire United is proud to endorse Derek Marshall for Victorville City Council District 4 in the 2026 General Election.
Marshall is a longtime High Desert organizer whose work has focused on building community power and advancing a broader vision for the region. His campaign for City Council centers on improving how Victorville approaches transportation, public safety, community investment, and the needs of residents who have historically been left out of local decision-making.
Marshall has emphasized a collaborative approach to city government, particularly when addressing immigration and public safety. He supports working directly with community-based organizations to identify resources for immigrant residents and exploring alternative crisis-response programs that bring social workers and mental health professionals into situations where an armed response may not be necessary.
His approach extends to residents returning from incarceration, where Marshall has emphasized partnering with organizations and community experts already doing re-entry work. Across these issues, he has been clear that elected officials should not assume they have every answer, but should use the resources and authority of local government to build solutions alongside the people closest to the challenges.
Marshall’s campaign also reflects a broader vision for the High Desert that includes transit-oriented development, safer streets, and greater investment in community infrastructure.
